Blog with me, please!

For years, I’ve always bugged my husband to collaborate with me on a blog. But my years of nagging remained fruitless, until now. Maybe it was the nagging that turned him off. Or perhaps the subject matter? I’ve always dabbled in blogging here and there over the years. I did a couple about photography. I wrote one when I was purging some emotional baggages. I started a multi-media blog about the city where we were living. But none of them are still ongoing projects.

They all had become projects for the summer, fall, winter and spring and when a season was over, I simply moved on to the next thing. Remember when I was painting back in 1999? Some of you who knows me would remember that I went through some blue episodes and slapped some acrylics on canvas. I even did a one-man show that was 80 per cent sold out. But when the sizzle and excitement of discovering new painting techniques fizzled I parked my paint brushes.

Perhaps, that’s why my partner didn’t want to blog with me. He didn’t want to be simply dabbling. He wants spend time and stick to it. He wants to be dedicated and all. Does he?

Fast forward to mid-September when I started a course on the Foundations of Digital Communications Strategy and Social Media and I needed to start a blog for the course. Of

Fast forward to mid-September when I started a course on the Foundations of Digital Communications Strategy and Social Media and I needed to start a blog for the course. Of course he came up with a whole bunch of suggestions:

  • A blog about learning how to sew. I did teach myself to sew early this year when we were all hunkering down in our houses with the lockdown.
  • A blog about working out from home. We did turn our recreation room downstairs into an afternoon gym and exercised there with the aid of our gym trainer.
  • A blog about the different interesting spots in Edmonton. (Sounds like a blog I did many years ago, one that I abandoned before even the season finished.)

And then I thought blogging about interracial gay couples.

My partner perked up when he heard about the idea. Suddenly he was interested in doing something creative with me.

But there’s a rub.

He really can’t be providing significant input to the project. It is my project. I need to conceptualize, research, produce, polish and present the blog to my instructor and classmates with very limited support from somebody else. He still agreed to help me by being part of the blog.

I will be producing five original video episodes blog or vlog. It will be housed in the pages of this website where the blog entries will include show and production notes.

It is exciting.

I am excited.

I hope you are, too.
